Who Are We?

Legal & Welfare Rights Training Limited was founded by Alan Robinson, a solicitor.  Alan remains the principal of the company and its main tutor.

Alan was employed as a solicitor in a Citizens Advice Bureau and a Law Centre and has worked in welfare rights organisations in both the statutory and the voluntary sectors.  He first advised a benefit claimant in 1972, and since that time he has continued to specialise in this area, as an advisor, a trainer, a writer and a researcher.  He is a current contributor to Tottel’s Older Client Law Service, and a member of the editorial board of Elderly Client Advisor.  He is the author of ‘Social Security and Family Benefit Law; a Practical Guide’ published by Tolley’s and also of ‘Tolley’s Practical Guide to State Benefits and Personal Injury Awards’ and is co-author with Kirsty Jenkins of ‘Housing and Housing Benefit Law’ (Tottel).  He has written a number of articles on social security matters.  He is a former Mental Health Act commissioner.
